ANDRILL ALCOVE (Andrill Lake Coring Outreach VEnture) is a collaborative K-16 research project in which Lake sediment cores were retrieved from Minnesota and Wisconsin lakes. Students and teachers from Middle and High School and University completed the coring and will be presenting their results on this blog site.
ANDRILL ALCOVE is a geoscience K-16 outreach project based on research undertaken in Antarctica by ANDRILL (Antarctic Geologic Drilling, www.andrill.org/iceberg ). Students, Teachers, and Schools have partnered with an ANDRILL (www.andrill.org/iceberg/) geoscientist to bring earth science research involving sediment cores into their classrooms.
The Limnological Research Center (LRC) and the National Lacustrine Core Repository at the University of Minnesota have provided equipment and expertise, as well as access to facilities and equipment for this project. Archive halves of undisrupted cores will be stored at the LRC. Funding for ALCOVE has been provided by St. Cloud State University.
